Горный хребет внутри Большой Излучины [Big Bend] р. Рио-Гранде [ Rio Grande River] на юго-западе штата Техас, протянулся с севера на юг. Примыкают к пустыне на территории Национального парка "Биг-Бенд" [ Big Bend National Park]. Горы известны необычными геологическими формациями и расцветками пород, крутыми склонами. Национальный парк "Биг-Бенд"Расположен на западе штата Техас вдоль границы с Мексикой, внутри Большой Излучины [Big Bend] р. Рио-Гранде [ Rio Grande River], образующей южную границу парка. Большую часть территории парка занимает пустыня. На юге - покрытые лесом горы Чисос [ Chisos Mountains], самая высокая точка - пик Эмори [Emory Peak], 2387 м. Река сформировала три живописных каньона высотой около 460 м - Бокиллас [Boquillas], Марискаль [Mariscal] и Санта-Елена [Santa Elena]. В парке произрастет более тысячи видов растений, некоторые из них уникальны. Разнообразие фауны (койот [ coyote], олень-мул [ mule deer], белохвостый олень [ white-tailed deer], ящерицы, змеи, около 400 видов птиц) объясняется резкими перепадами высот. Найдены остатки древней индейской цивилизации. Площадь - 2866 кв. км - это последний участок нетронутой природы такого размера в штате.
